Personal photo of Scott Ball

Scott Ball

Born and raised in Appalachia. Fireflies, cicadas, and muggy summer days are in my blood. Photography helps me connect with people and places, helps me remember.

This site is a mishmash. Here's what's where:

Newsletter — The reason most people probably end up here. A daily edition of 7–10 stories from across the open web, curated for me by an AI agent I built and trained on my own taste. A working experiment in personal-scale tooling. There's a longer note about it on the home page.

Wild — Landscape photography from backcountry trips. Mostly the American West right now — Wind River Range, Glacier National Park, the kinds of places that take a few days of walking to reach.

Urban — Photographs of cities and built environments. A different pace than Wild.

Stories — Trip reports and longer video essays. A slower-cooking section; new entries arrive when I have time to make them.

Maps — Interactive 3D maps of places I've been or plan to go.
